Background and Training
Dr. Jasmine Fayeghi Schnurstein (Dr. S for short) is a licensed psychologist in the state of Nevada specializing in evidence-based practices with children, adolescents, and their families. Most recently, Dr. S served as The Clinical Director for the Child and Adolescent Treatment Clinic at The Evidence Based Practice of Nevada (The EBP). Dr. S is a proud Las Vegas native and is thrilled to be providing behavioral health services in her hometown. In her free time, Dr. S enjoys spending time with her two children and husband, watching The Office, and playing New York Times games. Dr. S and her family are avid Chicago Bears fans. Da Bears!

Areas of Expertise and Approach to Treatment
Dr. Schnurstein’s primary treatment focus is working with youth with internalizing behaviors (anxiety, OCD, specific fears) and externalizing behaviors (tantrums, outbursts, emotional meltdowns). She also works with youth with neurodevelopmental disorders (ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder). Dr. S has specialty training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Parent Management Training (PMT), and Exposure-Response Prevention (ERP). Dr. S takes an evidence-based approach to treatment. This means she takes her clinical expertise paired with your expertise of your child and family to develop a treatment plan.

Dr. S is passionate about providing the highest quality clinical care utilizing treatments that actually work and are backed by research. Dr. S wants your child and family to have relief from difficult symptoms as soon as possible. She works with families to help them learn skills to make long-lasting change. Dr. S believes parent involvement in treatment is the key to success. She works with parents to increase their understanding of their own children and to learn the most effective ways to parent and to support their children in treatment. Dr. S is happy to collaborate with schools and other providers to ensure quality care.

Michal Fensken, M.A.

Michael Fensken, M.A. is a fourth-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at UNLV and is working under the supervision of Dr. Jasmine Schnurstein. Michael is receiving specialized training in evidence-based practices for children, adolescents, and families with a wide range of developmental, behavioral, and emotional concerns.

Michael is originally from central New York and moved to Las Vegas in 2020. In his doctoral program, his psychological research focuses on studying the risk and protective factors surrounding problematic school refusal in children and adolescents. Michael also teaches undergraduate courses, and mentors undergraduate students interested in pursuing a career in psychology. In his free time, Michael enjoys spending time outside, hiking, running, soccer, and golf.
